Catawba County’s proximity to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport and quick interstate ensure its easy to travel locally or even around the globe.  Charlotte Douglas International Airport is reachable within 45 minutes and there are multiple direct routes to Charlotte including US Hwy 321 and I-85, NC Hwy 16, and I-40 and I-77.

CONNECTING

60% of the US population is reachable from Catawba County within a one-day drive. Interstate-40 runs east to west through Catawba County. Accessible via US Highway 321, Interstate-85 is reachable in approximately 30 minutes. Interstate-77 is also reachable in 30 minutes via Interstate-40.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport is the sixth busiest airport in the world offering more than 165 nonstop destinations around the globe. CLT oversees nearly 700 departures and landings each day, and is served by seven domestic carriers and three foreign flag carriers. As American Airlines' second largest hub and the second largest airport on the East Coast, CLT connects passengers to exotic locations throughout the world. Daily nonstop service to domestic and international destinations includes Frankfurt, London, Paris, Rome, Munich, Toronto, and Mexico City among others.

The Hickory Regional Airport is the aviation leader in Western North Carolina and is a general aviation airport not currently served by a commercial airline. The Hickory Regional Airport is committed to providing a high level of service to its' customers by providing FREE Wireless Internet Access, exceptional facilities, free parking, excellent airfield maintenance and timely service.  The airport provides the Hickory Metro area with a gateway to the world through a well-maintained runway/taxiway system, a customer-needs oriented terminal building and aircraft services through the City operated FBO. The Hickory Regional Airport offers a control tower, an aircraft maintenance facility, on-site restaurant and rental cars, short & long-term parking, a 24/7 100LL self-serve pump, charter services and hangar and tiedown rentals. The FBO caters to the pilot by providing Wifi, a pilot's lounge, snooze room and shower, crew cars and weather and flight planning stations.
